Tadaima~ We're back~ Status updates~

Yo! It's been awhile. So welcome to our new site. We'll probably use this for a long while given it's free anyway haha
So what's new besides always having low staff and the new site? Some were mentioned in the HanTsuki movie release post, but here is a more or less complete list:
  • Change of name to just SkewedS Translations as we are going to translate novels and other printed media now
  • We're now streaming our releases at Youku (fansubs), Batoto (manga) & Google Drive (novels).
  • Softsubbed fansubs, scripts available to the public
  • Testing of these kinds of encodes for fansubs: x265 for FHD, 10bit x264 for HD, 8bit x264 for SD
  • Change from literal to liberal translations (at least for me, Ais)
  • Stopping with reinventing the wheel
  • Experimenting with crowdsourcing

We're always looking for staff. Kindly consult the recruitment page for details that lists priority projects.

And here are statuses of some of the titles we are working on we can announce after the cut:



Manga:
  • Juukou B-Fighter - all translations done, most cleans done, most typesets done
  • B-Fighter Kabuto - all translations done.
  • DaiMajin Kanon - currently in cleaning. Will translate after I’m done cleaning all chapters. Along with Ryuusei no Kizuna, this is Ais’ personal priority project.
  • Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo ~after~ - stuck on just being scanned.

Novels:
  • Bound by Shooting Stars / Ryuusei no Kizuna - first chapters in finalizing and have to work on making the ePubs and PDF files. Will release them hopefully within a few weeks. A lot of special thanks to Ryusei no Kizuna LiveJournal community, especially yanie02, for letting us use what they have done so far and for us to continue with the rest of the novel. Along with DaiMajin Kanon manga, this is Ais’ personal priority project.
  • Some secret title about spinning circles - it's being done by a couple (yeah, lovebirds) who are big fans of the book series that I met during JLPT. Chapter 1 is underway.

Fansubs - Series:
  • Sukeban Deka 1 - eps 16-24 still at QC. Almost there~
  • Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger - main TV episodes dropped. Go get Gao Soul Forever!'s versions instead. I personally plan to work on the DVD extras as cast talks are lots of fun (but harder to work on). But I, Ais, will concentrate on printed media first maybe until I pass JLPT N3 & maybe also N2 (as my Japanese reading skills suck).
  • Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger - same with Gao, main eps dropped. Go get Imagination Station's version instead. Like Gao, I, Ais, personally plan on working on DVD extras as cast talks are lots of fun (but harder to work on), but printed media first for me.
  • Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger - if nobody beats us by the time I'm okay with my skills in reading Japanese, we'll pick it up again starting from ep1, now with softsubs and more liberal translations.
  • GeGeGe no Kitarou 2007 - like Hurri, if nobody beats us by the time I'm okay with my skills in reading Japanese, we'll pick it up again starting from ep1, now with softsubs and more liberal translations.
Fansubs - F/HD Remasters projects:
  • Shinigami no Ballad - it will rebooted with TV-Nihon since Azazel is heading it
  • Jigoku Shoujo Live Action - will probably work on it next year. Though I'm afraid that I have to fix a lot of mistranslations as it was our first project (caught a lot of facepalm translations when I QC'd ShiniBara for the released HDs so far)
  • Solanin - will probably work on it in the coming months. Just have to get my butt to work on the extras.
  • Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora Live Action movie - will have to save up or wait until donations reach certain value to buy it
  • ROOKIES - no moolah to buy the expensive BluRay media T_T So either save a whole lot or wait until donations reach certain value
  • DaiMajin Kanon - no moolah again to buy the expensive BluRay media T_T So either save a whole lot or wait until donations reach certain value

Fansubs - Oneshots:
  • Gin no Saji / Silver Spoon Live Action - as you observed at the plurk post, I posted the beta version softsubs. They are not edited, translation checked, nor QC'd. If you found errors, please email us ( tl.skeweds@gmail.com) the timestamp of the line, the mistakes you found on that line, and how to correct the mistake in that line. Also include an alias how you want to be credited. It's more or less partly a crowdsourcing experiment. Hopefully, I get to finish the webapp soon so that there will be versioning of the subs (which I'm thinking if I should make it a mashup with Google Drive if feasible).

There are also other projects that are still in the planning stage or where raws have been acquired that are not mentioned above. The above mentioned are the ones that are already underway or some parts of the title have been released which can be announced publicly. Stay tuned for other titles we are about to start working on.

As for other matters, I'm still in the middle of uploading to Mega and Youku the fansubs we released so far. Yup, we're really streaming now haha
